Andy Burnham Throws Lifeline to Britain's Struggling Music Venues

Grassroots music venues across England are set to benefit from a 20% cut in business rates from April 2027 after Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a new package aimed at supporting the live music industry.

The government says the measure will help around 32,000 pubs, clubs and live music venues, with the average venue expected to save around £1,100 a year.

Burnham said the move would help protect the venues that sit at the heart of local communities, while giving them more breathing room after years of rising costs.

For Britain's live music scene, the announcement could provide a timely boost, helping independent venues continue to support emerging artists and host live performances at a time when many have faced increasing financial pressure.
