Johnny Marr has confirmed that his new single Spin will be released on 16 June, teasing the next chapter of his solo career with the line: “We are entering The Age Of Everything.”
The announcement has already sparked excitement among fans, with the track expected to offer the first proper taste of Marr’s next era. And given his track record for sharp, melodic, instantly recognisable guitar work, expectations are hardly going to be modest. Shocking, really, that people expect brilliance from one of Britain’s greatest guitarists.
The timing also makes things even more interesting for fans heading to his huge hometown show at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on 9 July 2026, where Marr will headline as part of Sounds of the City.
With Spin arriving just weeks before that date, there is every chance the new single could make its way into the Castlefield Bowl setlist. Nothing has been confirmed, obviously, but a major Manchester show feels like the perfect place to give the track a proper live moment.
Marr will be joined at Castlefield Bowl by Everything Everything and The Clockworks, making it one of the standout Manchester gigs of the summer.
For fans of The Smiths, Marr’s solo work, and frankly anyone who enjoys hearing a guitar played by someone who knows what they’re doing, Spin already feels like one to watch.
